Trent Alexander-Arnold, the much awaited Real Madrid signing is officially in Real Madrid now and delivered his welcome speech on Thursday, June 12.
Arnold brought a surprise for the Madridistas without even setting foot on the pitch with his speech in Spanish, the belief of fans are stronger in him as his efforts have already for the club. As stunning as he is, Arnold made a statement that he belongs here and he is here for a long time.
He always likes challenges whether it is for other sports like basketball and Formula 1 racing. He is just 26 and already a legend of one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Press conference questions
While the speech impressed the press conference, it raised more questions too.
How long have you been learning Spanish?
- A few months
With your emotions on final day this season with Liverpool, how do you contrast them with the emotions you are going through today, also as you spoken about wanting to win the Ballon d'or in the past how much is that a motivating factor in your decision to come here. Is it all about your ambitions or is it about winning LaLiga and Champions League?
- Look, I think umm I don't think it influenced my decision to come here at all to be honest. I think, you know, you joining a club like this with the teammates that I have now joined, it's going to be quite hard to win Ballon d'or with the amount of superstars we have got in this team but now its exciting as these are the kind of players I want to play with. I have admired them, I have played against them and how good it is to be a part of the team and to be playing with them rather than against them will be good.
How hard was it for you to leave Liverpool?
- I have probably known it for a long time is that if I was to ever leave Liverpool it would only be to go to Real Madrid. That would be the only club for me and then it gets to a point where you've got to make a decision whether to go or to stay and making that decision wasn't easy. I am going to say it wasn't easy. I have been there so long, been a part of it but eventually you have to make a decision. And in my mind, I have made the right one and it's the one I am very excited about.
Why are you keeping just Trent and not Alexander-Arnold on the back of your jersey like you had in Liverpool?
- The name Alexander-Arnold gets very confusing in Spain so I decided to keep it simple.
Key takeaways from the press conference
Trent Alexander-Arnold has known about this move for a while now since he has been learning Spanish for months.
He wanted to leave Liverpool and had planned this and perhaps he was missing the games on purpose.
